Resources to Disciple Children
May 7, 2019Parents,
You have the exciting privilage of helping your children learn to love and follow Jesus.
Here are some resources for you to walk through with your child over the next few years. One of the most important ways you can prepare your child for a life of following Jesus is to lay a foundation of good theology now. Show them how the truth about God impacts everyday life. And be a good example to them of what it looks like to be committed to the local church.
Of course, the best way to disciple your child is by reading the Bible together, talking about the Sunday sermon with them, and showing them the glory of God in everyday life. But here are some age-appropriate books to get, read with them, or encourage them to read on their own.
Ages 5-7
Big Thoughts for Little Thinkers (4 volumes)
The Jesus Storybook Bible
Ages 8-10
Big Truths for Young Hearts by Bruce Ware
The Ology: Ancient Truths Every New by Marty Machowski
Ages 11-12
Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
Christian Beliefs by Wayne Grudem
Ages 13-14
This Changes Everything: How the Gospel Transforms the Teen Years by Jaquelle Crowe
Try to read through the entire Bible over the course of 2 years (about 2 chapters per day).
We are praying for you as you show your kids the greatness of Jesus!
