Youth Retreat
A retreat for youth focused on Jesus and technology
As fish in water, we find ourselves immersed in technology. Technology is so prevalent that we often don't even notice it. Because of that, Christians too rarely pause to reflect on how it is forming and shaping us--for good and for bad.
Sadly, the converation around new tech tends to be dominated by extremes: either itis the boogeyman that is undoing all that is good and should be avoided or it is a limitless good that will fix all of our problems. Against both of these extremes, Christians must consistently affirm two truths: we are made in God's image and we are plagued by sin. Because of this, we can be sure that all things created by humans have potential for great good but also great harm. Our creations will neither catch God off guard nor will they do what only God can.
Our goal with this retreat is to reflect on how we are using technology or, perhaps, how we are being used by technology so that we might be faithful followers of Jesus in a world dominated by tech.
We'll spend Friday evening and all day Saturday at Highland Lakes Baptist Encampment, just outside of Austin.
The cost is $40. Registration deadline is February 23rd.
